KOLKATA: Coal India's subsidiary Western Coalfields is on track to open 36 mines in 36 months by 2018, having opened eight mines in the past eight months as part of a plan to contribute its bit to helping the state-run monopoly miner meet its output target of 1 billion tonnes by 2020.
